New Steam Games with Native Linux Builds, including Beetle Ball and Rogue Blight - 2026-09-09 Edition
This article is running a little late because of the Tokyo Games Show preparations that were undergoing over the past few weeks! Between 2026-09-02 and 2026-09-09 there were 83 New Steam games released with Native Linux builds. For reference, during the same time, there were 647 games released for Windows on Steam, so the Linux versions represent about 12.8 % of total released titles. You should definitely not miss Beetle Ball if you liked Rocket League, it seems to be a worthy renewal of the concept now with bugs instead of cars!

Another excellent contender for your attention should be Rogue Blight which follows the formula of Slay the Spire very closely yet with a different execution.

VALHEIM
Released on 9 Sep, 2026, developed by Iron Gate AB and published by Coffee Stain Publishing. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Action, Adventure, Indie, RPG
About the game: A collaborative exploration and survival game for 1-10 players, set in a procedurally generated afterlife inspired by Viking culture. Battle, build, and conquer your way to a saga worthy of Odin’s patronage!
Steam Reviews Summary: Players call it one of the best survival games ever made, with thousands-of-hours veterans lining up for 1.0 to start fresh worlds from scratch. Co-op is where it shines: death stories (storms on sea serpent chases, getting killed by a birch tree) are treated as comedy gold, and one reviewer credits the game with helping them get married. The Viking atmosphere, music and lore are considered top tier, building feels deep enough to obsess over for hundreds of hours, and combat has just the right souls-like weight with satisfying bosses. Common gripes: resource gathering is grindy (especially hauling ore that cannot pass through portals), high/low ground hit detection still feels janky in places, performance drops as your base grows huge, solo play drags without friends, and some late biomes feel padded with fragment-collection requirements before boss fights. Runs fine even on modest hardware per several reviewers.
BEATERCORE
Released on 9 Sep, 2026, developed by Artem Arbatsky, self-published. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Indie, Racing
About the game: beaterCore is an arcade racing game for those who prefer cheap rusty beaters over specialized sports cars. Buy, repair, restore, and race your dream project car
Steam Reviews Summary: A one-dev gem that reviewers compare to Wreckfest meets My Summer Car: heavy, tactile driving in rusty beaters (lots of Soviet-era cars) where every part wears out and you can literally jack up your own car mid-race to fix it. The garage/maintenance loop is the standout feature, retro art style and catchy music are loved, there’s a huge amount of tracks plus a track builder with workshop content, online multiplayer and split screen included. Criticisms cluster around AI that feels too heavy and aggressive (it T-bones you without penalty), rubber banding, and understeer; part wear was seen as punishing at launch but the dev shipped fixes fast enough that several reviewers edited their reviews to thank him for it. One reviewer played two hours on Steam Deck and called it perfect out of the box. Great value for the price per multiple reviews.
CHOP CHOP TOGETHER
Released on 8 Sep, 2026, developed by Dango Dynamics and published by Dango Dynamics, . [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Action, Casual, Indie, Simulation
About the game: A chaotic 1–4 player co-op party game where housemates take on ridiculous jobs, earn cash, and put their friendships to the test during the wildest workdays imaginable. Work together under pressure, face unpredictable hazards, and survive fast-paced chaos where teamwork is the only way out.
Steam Reviews Summary: A pure co-op chaos game that works exactly as advertised: job variety keeps rounds fresh, punching teammates or throwing boxes at each other is basically half the fun (and seagulls apparently made a lot of new enemies), and solo play still gives a decent challenge. Negative reviews point to input delay in controls, some bugs like objects disappearing and stuttering when dashing, difficulty swings between super easy and brutally hard levels, and online sessions that can lag for some players even with accelerators. The biggest structural gripe is the lack of local split screen, so everyone needs their own copy (LAN or online only). Small sample size at 21 total reviews, but the co-op crowd clearly loves it.
DATAMINERS
Released on 7 Sep, 2026, developed by Electrocosmos and published by Application Systems Heidelberg. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Indie, Strategy
About the game: Get inside the mind of an ethical hacker and race against the firewall as you collect data, hack terminals and bring enemies down from the inside. Dataminers is a casual logic game, where you climb and clear towers full of data mines.
Steam Reviews Summary: Almost universally praised as a modern upgrade to Minesweeper: number-deduction core wrapped in an ethical hacker theme that fits well rather than feeling bolted on, with a campaign (roguelike-ish items and upgrades), time attack mode with daily leaderboards, endless Odyssey runs for one-life challenges, and Zen mode for pure relaxation. Visuals are called sharp and beautiful (the cherry blossom map is a fan favorite), the music and voice acting fit the mood, and the training center helps newbies who have never played Minesweeper at all. One reviewer noted it’s officially Steam Deck Verified with controller support that works well on the handheld display. Main gripes: mouse-centric controls (one player wants full keyboard play) and one negative review dismissed it as “just 3d minesweeper.”
NOTHING STRANGE HERE
Released on 7 Sep, 2026, developed by Dandelion Developers, self-published. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Adventure, Casual, Indie
About the game: Explore Larcenest Gap as an investigative journalist. Take photos, publish articles, and watch the town change with your choices. Complete cozy, funny, and mysterious quests, uncover strange secrets, and spot gnomes hiding around every corner.
Steam Reviews Summary: A cozy, whimsical photography game that reviewers repeatedly compared to Gravity Falls: you wander a strange town taking pictures of cryptids and hidden gnomes, filling sticker books and decorating your own journalist journal with photos, text and stickers. The world reacting to the articles you publish is loved (side quests visibly change NPCs and locations), quirky dialogue gets lots of praise, and multiple endings plus time-locked photo spots give it replayability for completionists. Criticisms: the main story runs just a few hours long and feels rushed next to all the side content; quest directions are vague with no on-screen compass which frustrates some players; controls can feel janky or overly sensitive in places (stuttering reported), plus save/load bugs right after launch that may have been patched since.
VETERUM
Released on 7 Sep, 2026, developed by Crasleen Games, self-published. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Indie, RPG, Strategy
About the game: Turn-based tactical strategy with a detailed combat system and interactive environment. Explore the open world, complete quests, search for rare artifacts. Lead the last army of the Order of the Gatekeepers and stop the coming chaos!
Steam Reviews Summary: A turn-based tactics game constantly compared to Battle Brothers, with most reviewers saying it plays more purely tactical: you build barricades, dig pits, set fires on trees or cells, use chokepoints and flanks in hex combat where weather, facing and darkness genuinely change the fight. Mercenaries are replaceable (no endless star-hunting for perfect traits), and free XP spending on stats and skills is well received over rigid unit trees. Criticisms: economy balance, since contract income can be unstable and ambushes by missions that are too hard push you into a death spiral; combat visibility at night is called poor by some (units blend into backgrounds, movement shadows unclear, no UI scaling); and progression plus content depth feel shallow compared to modern peers like Battle Brothers or Menace for veteran players. The dev shipping patches almost daily got explicit thanks from several reviewers.
TINY EDEN
Released on 7 Sep, 2026, developed by Bajka Games and published by Digital Vortex Entertainment. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Casual, Indie, Simulation
About the game: A cozy first-person farming sim, set in the heart of a futuristic city. Grow plants, cook what you harvest, and discover new varieties as you turn your apartment into a thriving urban garden, from a small balcony to a rooftop paradise.
Steam Reviews Summary: A beautiful cozy farming sim that’s polarizing in its current state: the art style, UI/UX and chill atmosphere are widely praised (one reviewer said it looks fantastic from a design standpoint), but launch was rough with many bugs like cooking timers freezing, the Tab key needing to be pressed twice, drag and drop misbehaving, and the shop not selling items at first. The economy is seen as too tight relative to upgrade costs so progression feels slow and grindy, quest instructions are vague or missing (which soil a plant needs, where things can even be bought), drones don’t work reliably for some players, and one very highly upvoted negative review accused the game of being AI-generated which sparked debate in its comments. The positive side notes fixes rolling out fast with multiple patches since launch so patience pays off. On Steam Deck it reportedly doesn’t run well by default but switching to a gamepad plus trackpad layout makes it playable per one reviewer.
ARCANEERING: BEYOND AUTOMATION
Released on 7 Sep, 2026, developed by Sundrop Games, self-published. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Casual, Indie, Simulation, Strategy, Early Access
About the game: Automate the arcane! Build spell-powered factories, reclaim ancient territories filled with magical secrets, and discover game-changing technology hidden across procedurally generated worlds. Master both engineering and magic in this cozy fusion of factory automation and RPG progression.
Steam Reviews Summary: Only a handful of reviews so far since the game is still early access, but they are telling. A few players hit serious performance problems at launch (one had 20fps stuck on max settings) and the dev responded quickly with updates that fixed it; one reviewer flipped their review to positive after confirming smooth 144+ fps post patch. Those who got in say the spell powered factory building, digging and crafting loop is genuinely fun for fans of the genre, and there’s a free demo available if you want to test first. A few gripes remain: controls and conveyor belts can still feel janky by factory game standards, and an ultrawide FOV issue was reported (also addressed via dev update). Early but promising. Worth watching as it gets more polish over time.
DUNGEON RAID
Released on 4 Sep, 2026, developed by 4Cats, self-published. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Strategy
About the game: Dungeon Raid is an adventure card roguelike. Dive deeper and deeper into the dungeon. Use everything you find to defeat enemies and kill the final boss. Good luck! And try not to die… from hunger.
Steam Reviews Summary: Mostly Positive overall. Fans of card based roguelikes seem to enjoy the low stress dungeon crawling vibe, the distinct art and music style, and how each character plays differently (the vampire is often cited as easier than the starting knight). The main complaints center on balance: combat can feel shallow since weapons and enemies mostly boil down to stat comparisons with a heavy RNG element, some say it gets laughably easy once you finish upgrading base gear which hurts replayability without difficulty modes or an ascension system. A few also flagged that the tutorial barely covers basics like forging/alchemy and key UI buttons aren’t clearly explained on first playthrough.
ISLE OF REVERIES
Released on 4 Sep, 2026, developed by desertcucco, self-published. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Action, Adventure, Indie, RPG
About the game: Make a pilgrimage skybound to the Isle of Reveries, where any wish can be granted. Conquer mysterious dungeons, solve puzzles, and explore a vast overworld in this retro-inspired adventure.
Steam Reviews Summary: Very Positive with reviewers gushing about how well the game nails the Game Boy Color Zelda formula (Link’s Awakening and Oracle games especially). The dungeons and puzzles get called top tier for the genre, often requiring creative lateral thinking rather than brute force, while the pixel art, music and charming characters round out a very complete package. Common gripes: the overworld is dense and maze like with lots of backtracking that can feel tedious compared to actual Zelda games, and there were some early bugs/softlocks though the dev has been extremely responsive patching issues within hours or even overnight. One reviewer specifically noted it runs perfectly on Steam Deck and called handheld play the best way to get the full GBC nostalgia experience.
BEETLEBALL
Released on 3 Sep, 2026, developed by Bugfight Studio, self-published. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Action, Indie, Sports
About the game: Score goals with dungballs in Beetleball, the Greatest Online Multiplayer Class-based Dung Beetle Soccer Game TO EVER EXIST
Steam Reviews Summary: Very Positive with a lot of players genuinely hyped about how much fun this is. The class based system gets consistent praise since every beetle has distinct abilities and playstyles that keep matches feeling varied even if you’re new to the genre; several reviewers compared it favorably (if more chaotic) to Rocket League and said it’s easy to pick up with a real skill ceiling underneath. It really shines playing with friends in private lobbies or ranked 3v3/6v6 since online play is where most of the fun happens, though that also ties into the main complaint: player counts are still small so matchmaking can be slow and peer to peer hosting occasionally causes high ping or dropped connections for some. A few minor nitpicks about in match UI polish (save/assist pop ups) but overall it’s seen as a great value indie multiplayer game, especially at its low price point.
ROGUE BLIGHT
Released on 3 Sep, 2026, developed by CodeRadGames, self-published. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Action, Indie, RPG
About the game: Rogue Blight is a rogue-lite with focus on souls-like combat, featuring a Slay The Spire-inspired map system. Fight your way through ever-changing maps. Customize your playstyle based on what you find. Death is punishing. Only skill and persistence will carry you forward.
Steam Reviews Summary: Very Positive and the core concept lands well for fans of souls like combat mixed with Slay the Spire style map progression; reviewers consistently praise the art direction, atmosphere and enemy/boss designs as genuinely striking. The difficulty curve gets called fair since most deaths feel like your own mistake rather than bad luck. On the negative side there’s a recurring theme that build variety is shallower than expected (upgrades mostly just add flat stats with limited meaningful synergies), enemies can start to repeat themselves after several hours, and some players found early bugs including softlocks though the dev has been quick to patch issues within about 24 hours. A few noted it’s a short run but satisfying experience well suited for handheld play.
THE UNDERCUT: RACING MANAGER
Released on 2 Sep, 2026, developed by Staz.Tech and published by Staz.tech. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Indie, Simulation, Strategy, Early Access
About the game: Circuits come and go. Sponsors rise and fall. Every season reshuffles the deck. A retro motorsport management sim with physics-driven races, procedurally generated tracks, and a dynamic world that never plays the same way twice.
Steam Reviews Summary: Positive: fans of racing management sims seem excited by how much depth this brings to practice sessions (run plans that actually generate useful data) and the sponsor/driver hunting mini games. The dev is clearly active on Discord fixing issues fast based on feedback. Main criticisms: UI legibility/scaling problems for some monitors (partially addressed already), no weather system yet, AI still needs balancing, and a handful of reviewers pushed back hard saying the Steam store page’s AI disclosure seems incomplete since much of the art and tutorial voice appears to be AI generated; that debate is clearly split opinion but worth knowing about before buying. No manual save/load option also frustrated some players who prefer more control over their progress in an early access title like this one.
DIVIDER DAVE
Released on 2 Sep, 2026, developed by Louis Vidal ‘Pignomaster’, and published by Chancla Interactive. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Action, Adventure, Indie
About the game: A slapstick puzzle-platformer where cloning yourself is the solution to everything. Launch your doubles, stack them, turn them into boxes. Dave doesn’t mind. Probably.
Steam Reviews Summary: Positive, with reviewers consistently describing this as a short (roughly under two hours) but polished puzzle platformer that respects your intelligence. The clone based mechanics get praised for being intuitive to learn while still requiring real thought per level; difficulty is called well balanced since puzzles are challenging enough to feel satisfying without ever getting frustrating or blocking progress completely. Pixel art and the soundtrack/sound design also earn repeated mentions as fitting the game’s playful tone nicely, with a few reviewers noting a light story thread between levels that wraps up well at the end. A couple minor gripes: a few later levels get timing sensitive, stacking “Dave boxes” can occasionally push instead of letting you jump on top due to some clunky physics, and one reviewer found it too easy overall for their taste.
