Tokyo Game Show 2026: What to Expect?

It’s September and as usual we will be covering the Tokyo Games Show later in this week, as it takes place September 17–21, at the Makuhari Messe. This year should be somewhat special with the 30 years anniversary of the show! This makes it one of the longest running video games shows around the world. Many others have stopped midway (ECTS, E3…) and the TGS has had a fairly stable or even increasing attendance over the past few years.

So what’s new in this year?

The Games

We expect the following titles on the show floor:

Sony PlayStation / Square Enix

  • Marvel’s Wolverine (playable)
  • Final Fantasy VII Revelation (stage & gameplay)

Capcom

Not a lot of new games this time, since Onimusha just came out.

  • Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendence (floor demo) [new combat systems]
  • Mega Man Dual Override (first playable build available on floor)
  • Pragmata + Onimusha Way of the Sword (live stream reveals)

Bandai Namco

Bandai Namco is back with big franchises again:

  • Ace Combat 8 Theve’s Wings (flight demo)
  • Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 debuts public hands-on
  • Gundam Rogue Orbit (mech combat accessible for playtesting)

Konami

Konami is back with a few big entries from their most famous IPs:

  • Castlevania Belmont’s Curse playable + voice cast live broadcast
  • Silent Hill: Townfall stream with gameplay walk-throughs. The game is entirely played at the first person in this episoide.
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force GX demo on PC/Switch 2

Sega/Atlus

  • Persona 4 Revival (first public testing, trailer drops). Going to be big, it’s been a super popular title in the series.
  • Stronger than Heaven, the new title from the Ryo Go Gotoky studio. This is not yet another Yakuza, but some kind of game showing the evolution of the gangs over the years, apparently, starting from the early 20th century in Japan.

Koei Tecmo:

  • Wo Long 2 Wings of Ember playable
  • Attack on Titan Part 3 floor premiere + stage show

Minecraft

As surprising as it sounds, Minecraft will have its own booth for the first time ever, mostly to showcase Minecraft Dungeons II, and to celebrate its 20 years in Japan.
