New Steam Games Playable on the Steam Deck, with Onimusha and Moonlighter 2 - 2026-09-05 Edition
Between 2026-08-29 and 2026-09-05 we selected 10 newly released games that are rated as Verified or Playable on the Steam Deck, and meeting specific criteria in terms of user ratings. The big game of the past week is Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the long-awaited return the Capcom franchise from the 90s (PS1 players should remember it very well). It’s received the Resident Evil Reboot treatment, and last year I played it at the TGS 2025 and I found it very well done, while the regular enemies were a bit generic.

Moonlighter 2 is also out, and while the overall reception is positive, fans of the first opus are divided by the direction taken by this new episode.

WORMING FROM HOME
Released on 4 Sep, 2026, developed by Zach Northrop, and published by Zach Northrop. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Action, Adventure, Casual, Indie, Simulation
Steam Deck Rating: Verified
User Reviews: 98.6 % Positive (out of 218 total reviews)
About the game: Remote work simulator where you are a worm :)
Steam Reviews Summary: Players love the adorable remote work worm concept and call it great value around $8. The polish, voice acting, music, cosmetics and achievements are frequently praised, with the wormkour parkour segment singled out as a favourite. Most reviews say it is funny, cozy and easy to recommend for what it is. Common niggles are that the game feels short at 3 to 7 hours, the skill tree is limited, and physics bugs with trampoline sticking. You are also limited by an insta kill floor limiting room exploration, and a few other quirks like that.
ONIMUSHA: WAY OF THE SWORD
Released on 3 Sep, 2026, developed by CAPCOM Co., Ltd., self-published. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Action, Adventure, RPG
Steam Deck Rating: Playable
User Reviews: 93.8 % Positive (out of 1099 total reviews)
About the game: An Oni Gauntlet-wielding samurai makes a stand in Kyoto against the encroaching Genma menace. Through gritty, blood-soaked brawls, he searches for his reason to fight. What fate awaits at the end of his path?
Steam Reviews Summary: Reviewers praise RE Engine optimisation and smooth 120 fps performance, excellent combat with Issen parry deflects, weighty swordplay, cinematic bosses and a great dark fantasy Edo Kyoto atmosphere. Musashi is described as charismatic and the story cutscenes are engaging. Recurring complaints are poor English localisation and voice acting compared to Japanese, low enemy variety early on and passive AI that attacks one at a time, easy start with difficulty picking up around 8 hours in, semi open world that feels linear with backtracking, long cutscene stretches mid game, frame rate crashes when uncapped and missing PS5 controller haptics. As for the Steam Deck, there are conflictins reports on ProtonDB, with one user saying it works perfectly and performs very well, and another one who could not even launch the game. Hopefully the verified status indicates the first one should be more common…
DUNGEON SETTLERS
Released on 4 Sep, 2026, developed by CanOpener and published by CanOpener, . [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Simulation, Strategy, Early Access
Steam Deck Rating: Playable
User Reviews: 89.7 % Positive (out of 117 total reviews)
About the game: A colony sim based dungeon crawler where you manage your expedition to build a settlement in barren land, provide food and shelter for your people, lead them deep into the merciless dungeon, overcome challenging combat by your strategy.
Steam Reviews Summary: Early Access players enjoy the tense exploration and pause combat plus base building loop that feels Rimworld like with nice BGM. The room system gives clear goals and settlement growth is fun. Common frustrations are random character rolls with no custom portraits or stats, UI that is not intuitive for trading and room creation, many annoying restrictions on resources time research, inability to move furniture so you must destroy and rebuild losing materials. There’s also low res pixel art making units hard to distinguish, grind fatigue from forced dungeon farming, small research tree and content being somewhat limited at launch.
ZENONIA 1
Released on 31 Aug, 2026, developed by Com2us Holdings, and published by Com2us Holdings. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Action, Adventure, Indie
Steam Deck Rating: Verified
User Reviews: 88.1 % Positive (out of 135 total reviews)
About the game: Remember the RPG that defined a generation? ZENONIA is back—faithfully restored and now on Steam. Relive the adventure that kept you playing for hours, or experience it for the first time.
Steam Reviews Summary: Sentiment is driven by nostalgia. Fans who played on iPod feature phones love the faithful restoration and say it still feels fun today. The simple RPG charm and story are praised. Criticisms focus on port roughness: stiff slow controls with old mobile delay, no autosave initially requiring F2 quicksave, unclear hunger UI, buggy achievements and missing Achievement Store, translation errors with wrong gender for NPCs. A few people are wishing for Zenonia 2 and 3 ports as well.
MOONLIGHTER 2: THE ENDLESS VAULT
Released on 2 Sep, 2026, developed by Digital Sun and published by 11 bit studios. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Action, Adventure, RPG
Steam Deck Rating: Verified
User Reviews: 83.9 % Positive (out of 1371 total reviews)
About the game: Experience an action-RPG with roguelike elements where you live the double life of an adventurer and a merchant. Dive into vibrant dimensions to fight enemies, gather loot, and manage your backpack. Rebuild your shop and turn profits into gear for the next adventure!
Steam Reviews Summary: Opinion is split. Fans of the new roguelite like cute cohesive art, responsive combat with varied weapons, artifact backpack combos that feel addictive Balatro like, and clear upgrades. Many longtime Moonlighter 1 fans feel baited: the game changed to a Hades style node map with no discovered dungeons, non stacking inventory, shop price hints removing pricing tension, less meaningful equipment progression, bosses with invulnerable phases, inconsistent controls and verticality issues. The story seems to end abruptly as well. On the Steam Deck some complain about performance stuttering.
ADVENTURE LAND - THE CODE MMORPG
Released on 31 Aug, 2026, developed by Kaan Soral, self-published. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Indie, Massively Multiplayer, RPG, Simulation, Strategy
Steam Deck Rating: Playable
User Reviews: 82.9 % Positive (out of 111 total reviews)
About the game: Adventure Land is an eternal, open-source indie MMORPG. September 2026 brings our 10th anniversary- and quite a few surprises during the month! Play manually or use JavaScript to control up to 4 characters. Find better gear, automate your routines, and let your party do the grinding!
Steam Reviews Summary: The only sampled review describes it as a coding MMO without roleplaying. It notes endless bot grinding with very high costs for basic weapons, drop rates under 1 percent, no story quests lore or fashion endgame, and essentially static lifeless worlds because everyone is bots. Appeal is mainly for programmers wanting a multiplayer sandbox to script JavaScript bots rather than a traditional MMORPG experience.

Players praise the smooth intuitive builder, huge period range from ancient to WWI vessels, many weapon options, real time wind reacting sails and correct rigging, and export to Bulwark 3D print with free commercial license. Developer responsiveness is highlighted. Minor wishes include anchored UI screenspace, copy paste support for paired objects, precise X Y Z placement and hex RGB colour input.

Steam Reviews Summary: Players call it a unique simple yet deep Cold War sandbox that is addictive chill and educational. The developer is praised for being responsive and interactive with the base and bundle value gives many hours per dollar. Criticisms mention vague monthly prestige swings, unclear invasion mechanics especially Korean war events, occasional UI glitches like key not found in French and CTDs on menu start, and price feeling high for early access content.

Steam Reviews Summary: Reviewers describe a pure joy polished 3D gravity shifting puzzler with Draknek quality. Movement is snappy and ethereal visuals support no up premise well, hint system via guidance altars gives mini versions of puzzles without spoiling. Some players note difficulty spikes after the third chamber feel obscure and frustrating for average IQ levels, load screens are chuggy and motion sickness settings may be needed.
ALKURAI
Released on 5 Sep, 2026, developed by RedHouse Studios LLC., self-published. [Steam Store Page]
Genre: Action, Adventure, Casual, Indie
Steam Deck Rating: Playable
User Reviews: 85.7 % Positive (out of 42 total reviews)
About the game: Alkurai is a 4 player online co-op fantasy horror game. An infamous Alchemist has murdered the king and seized Alkurai’s throne. It is up to you and your party to evade his horrid miscreations and restore the kingdom to what it once was.
Steam Reviews Summary: The limited sample review frames it as atmospheric dark fantasy horror first person exploration with psychological terror vibes. Early Access means content is in construction, co-op online feature is listed but player count at time of writing was zero making multiplayer feel empty, only three Steam achievements exist and polish stability are uncertain. Recommendation is to wait for more content and community growth.
