New Steam Games with Native Linux Builds, including Dirtnap - 2026-09-02 Edition

By

Between 2026-08-26 and 2026-09-02 there were 110 New Steam games released with Native Linux builds. For reference, during the same time, there were 825 games released for Windows on Steam, so the Linux versions represent about 13.3 % of total released titles. Somewhat of an increasing percentage, some might say… in any case my favorite of the week if Dirtnap, which is essentially Worms in real-time, on steroids, with jetpacks! It has some optimization problems at the moment but once fixed this will be a real blast for everyone.

Full details below!

FLEET HUNTERS

Released on 1 Sep, 2026, developed by Gnarly Labs SRL, self-published. [Steam Store Page]

Genre: Action, Casual, Indie, Strategy

About the game: A playful, modern take on classic grid-based naval battles. Both fleets fire at once as you hunt down your opponent’s hidden ships in fast real-time duels. Play solo, with friends, online, or over LAN or switch to turn-based Classic Mode.

Steam Reviews Summary: Players call it a polished, satisfying modern take on Battleship, the real-time mode is a standout since fleets fire simultaneously with no waiting for turns, and hits land with “ridiculous” satisfaction. The CRT/radar-screen aesthetic, UI, sound design and atmosphere are widely praised as uniquely fitting. Reviews like that it’s simple to pick up but strategic (with a bit of luck), the enemy AI feels smart because it actually hunts your ship placement, and LAN/online multiplayer is great fun for family or friends. Minor gripes: can get frustrating when you keep losing, some wait times in online matches since the player base is still small, and a couple reviewers wish there were power-ups/bonuses added over time. Great value for the price.

ADVENTURE LAND - THE CODE MMORPG

Released on 31 Aug, 2026, developed by Kaan Soral, self-published. [Steam Store Page]

Genre: Indie, Massively Multiplayer, RPG, Simulation

About the game: Adventure Land is an experimental Indie MMORPG. ANYONE can Code not just one, but up to 4 characters! You can play manually, use the given default Javascript Code, or learn programming to do more! Going open-source at 10,000 installs!

Steam Reviews Summary: Only one detailed written review so far: it stresses that the game will NOT hold your hand when learning to program — coming from Python and knowing little JavaScript, they still found piecing together working code for their characters very rewarding. Treat as a hard but fun programming sandbox rather than an easy intro MMO; expect some trial-and-error before anything works on its own.

SUPER NIGHT RIDERS S1

Released on 31 Aug, 2026, developed by miyu.works, self-published. [Steam Store Page]

Genre: Action, Casual, Indie, Racing, Simulation, Sports

About the game: Super Night Riders S1 is a modern checkpoint arcade racer inspired by ’80s classics. Race as Alice, the Red Rider, across 12 stages from day to sunrise. Dodge rivals and beat the clock - distance matters more than position.

Steam Reviews Summary: Players call it pure ’80s arcade racer love, essentially Super Hang-On with an anime protagonist, and most say Season 1 is a massive polish upgrade over the original: more stages/modes/difficulties, day-to-sunrise transitions, good customization options for Alice. The soundtrack gets near-universal praise (“EPIC MUSIC,” “the menu track slaps”), graphics look great in 4K/OLED with nice display/graphics settings (including a 3D mode), and shared online leaderboards across all difficulties add real replay value since harder runs score higher. Common nitpicks: collision penalties feel too harsh, the time design feels built around turbo usage, some tracks have visibility issues from bright flash sections, vehicle choice is not purely cosmetic, the last bike is genuinely needed for Pro/Legend races. Steam Deck works well per multiple reviews (one called it “perfect on that,” another notes good performance with settings to tweak when docked).

MAESTRO’S COLD WAR 2

Released on 31 Aug, 2026, developed by Maestro Cinetik and published by Gaming at work, . [Steam Store Page]

Genre: Simulation, Strategy

About the game: Addictive yet chill. An immersive Cold War sandbox. Revive the Cold War in this classic strategy game—easy to pick up, yet challenging and deep, offering endless replayability.

Steam Reviews Summary: Still Early Access at release. Fans of grand strategy describe it as a more in-depth, accessible Balance-of-Power: easy to pick up but deep enough for HOI4/V3 players, with diplomacy, economic aid, defensive pacts and new national focus systems adding real decisions; several history enthusiasts say the game genuinely educated them on Cold War-era events (Great Leap Forward, Vietnam, Cambodia) and triggered their own research. The dev’s responsiveness to feedback is frequently highlighted as a plus. Criticisms: end-of-month reports don’t explain big prestige swings (“relationship change” is too vague), war mechanics are simplified/unclear so you can’t tell if your troops matter, the AI feels omnipotent in some games, late-game historical events play out on rails and feel less engaging than Twilight Struggle’s card-based ones or HOI4 national focus choices; also UI polish issues (font complaints, missing tutorial, occasional glitches), with a few reviewers thinking $12 is steep for its current EA state.

DIVINUM

Released on 28 Aug, 2026, developed by Sigil Games, self-published. [Steam Store Page]

Genre: Action, Adventure, Indie, RPG

About the game: Divinum is an action-adventure that blends stylish, expressive combat with rewarding exploration. Master devastating combos and craft unique builds to repel mysterious invaders and uncover your island’s hidden truth.

Steam Reviews Summary: The combat is the headline: fluid, expressive and fun: parry/block actually work, stagger/juggle combos feel great to pull off (“Devil May Cry in pixel art” per one fan), with a cool rune system for build variety. Exploration gets early fast travel between bonfires which makes backtracking painless, boss fights are interesting (one with moveset shifts stands out), and overall balance is praised as good for both casuals and combo hunters. The main recurring criticism is length/ending: most players finish in roughly 4–7 hours, it’s very linear (“plays like a Metroidvania but isn’t one”: single route, no backtracking options when you’re stuck on a boss), the story goes quiet after the opening and feels tacked-on relative to everything else, some reviewers find enemies too tanky late game so every hit “feels like slapping them with a wet noodle,” there are forced timed platforming challenges that turn off non-platformers, music is sparse in places, and the ending lands abruptly right after you get your second weapon.

THE LAST COSMONAUT

Released on 28 Aug, 2026, developed by Human Robot Games, self-published. [Steam Store Page]

Genre: Action, Adventure

About the game: The Last Cosmonaut is a first person survival horror puzzle game set in an abandoned lunar outpost. Collect parts, repair the escape vehicle, and keep the lights on, as something lurks in the shadows…

Steam Reviews Summary: Small sample of reviews so far but unanimously glowing. Reviewers say the atmosphere is nailed: tension stays high throughout, visuals are really well done, and audio does a great job keeping you on edge; one compared it favorably to SOMA, Amnesia and Alien Isolation in vibe. The simple logic puzzles (collecting parts, repairing the escape vehicle) were enjoyed as light but fitting for the horror mood, plus one notably funny review about being genuinely scared (“me caguei todinho”). Minor bugs are mentioned here and there, and localization requests came up (a proper Spanish translation was asked for).

DIRTNAP

Released on 28 Aug, 2026, developed by Unstable Entity, and published by Part Time Monkey. [Steam Store Page]

Genre: Action, Casual, Indie, Early Access

About the game: Dig, fly and fight through fully destructible maps in multiple game modes. Every character has its own unique ability, every biome its own hazards, and the weapon arsenal runs from machine guns to banana bombs to airstrikes. Play with friends, strangers, bots, or all of them.

Steam Reviews Summary: Early Access. When it runs well, fans say the concept is a blast: essentially Worms meets Soldat/Liero/Duck Game: real-time, fast-paced arena brawling with jetpacks, fully destructible terrain and absurd weapons from machine guns to banana bombs; couch co-op/split-screen sessions with friends are called “super fun,” and it’s considered cheap for what it offers. The big problem is optimization: multiple reviews report severe FPS drops (10–20 fps) during heavy action, lava areas or split screen even on decent hardware, which some found unplayable; bots can get stuck in geometry while also aiming surprisingly well online sessions are hard to find since there’s no matchmaking yet and few servers live. Other smaller asks: a perk overview so you know what you’ve unlocked, controller thumb-button weapon slot mapping (currently missing), fixing split-screen feature glitches, and CTF maps that collapse into mud-pits mid-game.

CHLORINE SCALES

Released on 28 Aug, 2026, developed by Alexandre Perrot, and published by PEA STUDIO. [Steam Store Page]

Genre: Adventure, Indie

About the game: Explore a strange black-and-white city in this hand-drawn point-and-click adventure. Investigate bizarre characters, kick their asses, and perform a mysterious money ritual before your rent is due in 7 days.

Steam Reviews Summary: Only 1 review on Steam but it’s detailed: a somewhat original hand-drawn point-and-click where you explore the town while gambling dice rolls to pull off your money ritual before rent is due in 7 days, an unusual risk/reward resource-management twist that works. The art and silly characters are called amazing, runs last only ~20–30 minutes but replay value is high since beating it unlocks new playable characters (with unique abilities/nerfs) and there’s a surprising number of endings. Caveats from the reviewer: heavy RNG can make some characters win less than 50% of the time even playing perfectly, balancing favors the opponent’s dice in spots, no save system exists to match run length, clicking OK during an animation can freeze or lose you runs, and Steam achievements weren’t unlocking at all (in-game only) and a patch is requested.

SMACK TALK

Released on 27 Aug, 2026, developed by Monchii Studio, self-published. [Steam Store Page]

Genre: Action, Casual, Indie

About the game: Say your moves out loud, trash-talk your friends, and fight to win. Smack Talk is a 1–8 player online PvP platform fighter where your voice controls your attacks. Call moves, land one-liners, and finish foes with wild ultimates.

Steam Reviews Summary: Players are consistently blown away by the concept: “Smash Bros if it was an indie game where you say your attacks like Dragon Ball” gets called hilarious, well-made and one of the best $5 purchases on Steam. Voice recognition is considered better than most, maps are fun/well-designed with a wide character roster (plus a secret easter-egg level spotted by fans), 1–8 player online play works for chaotic sessions, and it runs fine even on weak laptops — though you will be shouting at your friends/neighbors. Criticisms: the game is still thin on players so finding lobbies without bringing friends can be tough; some lag in online matches; mic sensitivity picks up background noise while certain skills (and one ultimate) have bad detection/balance issues; and a vocal minority points out serious balancing problems, some characters are strictly better than others, ultimates feel weak/easily avoided projectiles, killzones punish the slow voice-command recovery. Wishes: more modes/stats screens, custom move names, Steam Workshop support and additional characters.

THUMPS & BLOWS

Released on 26 Aug, 2026, developed by Widijou, self-published. [Steam Store Page]

Genre: Action, Casual, Indie

About the game: Chaos and fun are guaranteed in this two-player fighting game! Pick your stickman, master ridiculous techniques and humiliate your friends. An easy-to-learn yet hard to master game.

Steam Reviews Summary: Reviewers describe it as a love letter to MUGEN/doujin fan-made fighters, the Flipnote/Y2K stickman art style and over-animated moves are fantastic, music is great, and characters have simple-to-learn but hard-to-master move sets full of hidden techniques that reward trial-and-error (many report bursting out laughing discovering things you “could do all this time”). It’s praised as a polished party fighter for friends both locally and online (“the closest we can get to couch co-op after school”), with AI opponents good enough to solo against, and even single-player/story mode called surprisingly fun. Wishes/notes: content is still small at 1.0 (a few reviewers noted only ~4 characters selectable or “DEMO” text lingering on the title screen), controller support has quirks worth polishing, full English translation / voice acting and more characters are requested for future updates. Most say DLC should be coming soon.
