The Big GNU/Linux Gamer Survey - Q2 2015
We can never know enough about the market. A lot of times when making assumptions about who are the Linux gamers, I ask myself “Well, how do I really know that for sure?”. While it’s sometimes appropriate to rely on your intuition, it’s not uncommon to be completely wrong once you look at the actual data. For this reason, both for my own interest as well as for Linux Gamers in general, I am starting a quarterly tracker survey about Linux Gaming. You can start responding at the following address.
The Big GNU/Linux Gamer Survey on Google Forms.
It should take about 5 to 10 minutes for you to complete, depending on how much information you want to provide for the open questions. Some of the questions are optional, but please try to give as much details as possible.
This survey is split into 4 main categories:
- Demographics
- Your Gamer Background and Habits
- Linux Games & Where you get them
- Steam Machines
At the time of writing there have been already 400 answers to this survey, which is a good enough number to do a number of analyses on it, on top of being a good sample for a market overview. This will hopefully give a good starting base to get some key metrics about ourselves, and hopefully see how the market evolves from quarter to quarter. The results will be published in the course of July and I hope you will find them as interesting as I do.
