Cossacks 3 Finally Lands on Linux

By

After the Windows release back in September 2016, Cossacks 3 is finally released on Linux on Steam. Since we don’t have so many RTS on the platform at the time, I thought it was worth mentionning. The game sells at about 20 USD on Steam.

Note that this version is now considered as Beta as it was only tested privately so far. Buyers of the Linux version get additional bonus versus the base version.

Everybody who has Linux-version of the game, without time limitations, gets Early Bird bonus, which contains:

  • Additional mini campaign for single player.
  • 2 unique mercenary units that could be hired from the every nation’s Diplomatic Centre.
  • A special Early Bird Badge visible in multiplayer shell.

Note that the game is also available on GOG, but there is no client there for Linux at this stage (and it’s unclear whether there will be - maybe once they consider the game to be stable?).

The devs have indicated that the game was delayed because of porting issues. At least they apologized for it, which is nice compared to so many other devs releasing stuff late without any respect for their clients.

We are deeply sorry for delays on its release, as we hadn`t foreseen all the difficulties which occured during porting process on other OS. But we sincerely hope you will get enjoy playing our game and this will reward your patience.

Note that Cossacks 3 is probably not what you would expect from a modern RTS as it is largely similar to the earlier episodes of the series. So expect a lot of micro-management ahead.
