Dawn of War III Confirmed by Feral

By

Following the recent SteamDB leak, we had a strong suspicion that Dawn of War III was coming for Linux, and Feral could not stay tight-lipped about it much longer. They announced yesterday that it is indeed coming for Mac and Linux, and that it will be released on June 8th, 2017. This episode has stunning visuals, as you can see the trailer below.

There’s one little problem though: Dawn of War III is, unlike its predecessors, actually a multiplayer centric game. That’s too bad because the single player campaign of DoW used to be the meat of the series, and for good reasons. But that’s not just that. The problem is that multiplayer will be limited to Mac and Linux only - it will not be possible to play with Windows gamers at the time of release. Apparently Feral said they hope to revisit this in a future update.

It’s kind of disappointing, but this has been the case with most Feral ports so far: Linux/Mac multiplayer only. The only exception I can recall is XCOM2, which was released Day 1 on all platforms, with cross-platform multiplayer from the get-go. Hopefully there’s something down the line for DoW III that will make it possible.

Feral has released a mini-site to go along with the upcoming release. They will probably issue the hardware requirements within a week or so.
